Teegan "Jia Kinedy" Khalil
Jia is 21-years-old. She is of average height. She has shoulder length red hair. Jia loves to dress up. Sporting wigs, fancy dresses, heels, and accessories. Underneath all of the fluff however is a talented and down to earth woman. She is a people person and can also hold her own, both in the pilot’s seat and with a gun.
Teegan attend the revered Han Xin Academy.
The battle of Shadow. The Alliance’s attack had an unintended consequence of releasing poisonous gasses into areas near the Guiying River — even those outside the city. Han Xin Academy, which had lost most of its students because parents began evacuating in the days leading up to the attack, put out a distress message. It took hours for anybody to respond, by which time nearly all of the adults and many children were dead, and everybody remaining was sickened. Captain Elvis and the Blue Suede Shoes saved the day, rescuing all 12 of the remaining children and the 3 surviving teachers. Teegan was one of the children.
2516, Teegan came on-board when the Blue Suede Shoes made an unexpected 4-day stop on Kaldisa. (Emergency crew turnover…) The Captain was extremely tense when he arrived, but something about Jia’s new demeanor put him at ease. Gone was the gangly teenager he was happy to leave with the Black Phoenix, replaced by a woman with charm and self-confidence. Much to her sister’s dismay, Teegan, now calling herself Jia, spent nearly 3 straight days with the Captain – sensing his need for companionship. The keep the relationship “professional,” the captain promised her several hundred AU of travel at some future time.
Shadow was decimated, but the Browncoats had their own victory. While the Alliance Navy sent their blitz toward Shadow, the Independents launched a small attack force toward the guarded Summerfair from an outpost on Branson’s Mark. Eventually, the entire team was captured and executed, but not before they took out several high-ranking members of the Summerfair government. Magistrate Khalil , Teegan’s mother, was their highest profile target, and their first victim.
Following the Battle, and news of the death of his precious daughter, Admiral Khalil, Teegan’s grandfather, became furious. Word that his son-in-law had been sending supplies to Branson’s Mark reached his desk, and the Admiral demanded Desi, Teegan’s father, pay for, what he perceived as, these traitorous acts. (Of course, Desi O’Malley-Khalil was no traitor — he was simply a humanitarian with sympathies…) Desi was captured, charged, tried, convicted, and executed – though reportedly not in that order.
Meanwhile, on board the Blue Suede Shoes, Capt. Elvis was busy dealing with the Alliance and its insistence on his placing all of those children with their next of kin before he could get back to work. Among the survivors were the two Khalil sisters; Teegan (16) and Mei Xing (12). He knew their last name, but he also knew that he might call them “leverage.” As news of the aftermath of the attack, and the death of their parents, became apparent, Teegan begged the Captain to keep them on board as long as possible… dealing with them last. Busy with all of the other children anyway, he agreed to go along with that.
The girls were on-board for nearly a year while each of the other children were systematically dropped off. Several members of the crew were forced out do to Alliance interference (among them the long-time Engineer).
Teegan proved to be an excellent… diversion… for several crew members. The now 17-year-old was proving to be a real beauty who had a way with members of the opposite sex. She was becoming adept at getting what she wanted, and making her conquests believe that they were happy to do these things for her.
Teegan’s brother, Lt. Cdr. Xiao Khalil, was pleasantly surprised to learn from Capt. Elvis that his sisters survived the attack on Shadow. But, he was also hesitant to have them returned the the core planets. In the aftermath of the attack, Admiral Khalil’s wrath from the death of his daughter (fueled by his guilt for sending her there) caused him to take draconian measures against several officers and politicians on Summerfair. Xiao was convinced that if the girls were to return, each would be subjected to years of mental evaluation, brain washing, and other psychological torture just to ease their grandfather’s worries. Instead, he proposed a deal… Xiao, as the only known survivor of Zi-Jun and Desi’s estate, took 100% control. He set up a trust that the Captain could draw from in exchange for helping (a) get them new identities, (b) helping find Teegan a school to learn an appropriate trade, and © keeping Mei Xing safe until Teegan was able to return. Once Teegan and Mei Xing were ready to leave permanently, or when the Captain died, the girls would get the remainder of their inheritance.
The shrewd business man he was, Captain Elvis agreed. He promptly began using his contacts to find Teegan a school where he unique skills would help her excel. Given her formal academic training, he was able to secure her a spot at the Black Phoenix Society’s school, a fine — but less reputable — border companion sisterhood.
Teegan, now know by the name “Jia,” did excel, despite being older than most of the other girls in her class by several years. She skipped around the normal course load, filling in her training as necessary. Mostly, the best thing they could teach her was a little self-control. When possible, she tried to arrange short visits back to the Blue Suede Shoes. But over those 4 years, she only managed to see her sister 3 times.
In early 2516, Jia came on-board when the Blue Suede Shoes made an unexpected 4-day stop on Kaldisa. (Emergency crew turnover…) The Captain was extremely tense when he arrived, but something about Jia’s new demeanor put him at ease. Gone was the gangly teenager he was happy to leave with the Black Phoenix, replaced by a woman with charm and self-confidence. Much to her sister’s dismay, Jia spent nearly 3 straight days with the Captain – sensing his need for companionship. The keep the relationship “professional,” the captain promised her several hundred AU of travel at some future time.
Teegan/Jia, now 21-years-old, has returned – having completed her companion training. She has turned out to be a real knockout with both a pretty face, and a curvy figure.
Jia has requested to stay aboard for a few months, acting as a Passenger Liason/Activities Coordinator, which nobody can deny would provide excellent value for many potential passengers. She was distressed to find that the Captain has become very withdrawn. She’s not sure if the new first officer will have her, but is determined to stay with her sister. She may turn in her “credit” if the crew won’t have her.
